Definitely a winner! I bought this toy for my son before he was a year old. He’ll be two years old next month, and he still loves this toy! This toy has gone with him to doctor’s visits, grocery stores, on long car trips, etc… It keeps him entertained for several minutes –which is rare for little ones.(:
Just to give some details about the toy itself. The music consists of several well-known classical pieces, and it’s very pleasant to listen to. A colored light display flashes across the screen while each piece is playing. Once one piece finishes, you touch one of the colors on the middle button, and a new piece will start.
I highly recommend this toy!

Baby Einstein Takealong Tunes When I first got this toy and opened it up, I thought to myself, “$10 for this? It’s so lightweight and it only has one button!” I was expecting the handle to be more chewy, but it’s just hard plastic.
So I pushed the button, expecting for my ears to be assaulted like many other children’s toys do. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised! It seems that many toys feel like the louder and more obnoxious they can make something, the better. The music on this toy is much less “harsh,” almost as if it were an annoying toy sitting on top of a pillow to mute some of those ear-splitting notes.
The songs are great and cheerful. They make use of more than one instrument (and I use that word loosely!) The lights that play with the songs are bright, but not too bright. The lightweighedness that I originally was a little disappointed in is perfect for a baby. I still wish the handle was chewy.
Overall I really feel this is an excellent toy. The colors, sounds, and lights are engaging for my 7 month old, and it’s not a toy that will get “accidentally lost” like some of the louder, more annoying ones.

Lasts forever

This drum has lasted through all of my 5 children and now our little niece. This drum is aimed for use with very young children, but older ones enjoy it as well. My twins liked to suck on the drumsticks!! It has been stood on, sat on and thrown down the stairs, holding up to everything.

Babies can make noise by hitting the soft skin of the drum, and also the hard plastic, generating different sounds and textures. It is a great alternative to pounding on furniture, heads or other objects. The drumsticks are attached to the drum with strong string. Mine have never come detatched.

I bought this toy as well as other music-makers to add to our instrument collection.

Lotsa fun for your little one!!

This is a GREAT toy for your little person!! I bought this for my 9 month old son and he just loves banging on this drum for hours. The drum sticks attach to the side so you will not lose them. I found that this drum set was actually quieter than the zylophone and other little piano’s. It makes only one noise, not five or six. I would definetly recommend this for any toddler as they just love to bang on things.

Best I’ve seen

My 3 year old grandaughter wanted a violin for Christmas. This was the best “toy” violin I saw anywhere. It is a very good size for a small 3 year old. It plays classical music as well as scales and you can control the notes using the bow or just listen to the music. It is not loud and obnoxious. She has enjoyed it greatly and hopefully it will inspire her to someday want to learn to play a “real” violin and continue her music education.

Wonderful Toy

Two of my grandsons received this toy as a gift, at ages 2 and 4. It is so much fun! The adults play it too! You can set it to play scales as you use the bow, and to play tunes at the pace and timing of your bowing. It really sounds like the child is playing familiar tunes and classical music, and gives toddlers a realistic idea of how a violin works. It is made of a good sturdy plastic, and has lasted well.

Good Long lasting Toy

Wow, I bought this same exact toy at W**mart as one of their brands for under ten bucks reg price, but thats a different story. For the price I bought it I think its a great buy. I purchased it specificaly for when my 14 month old son and I go out. It keeps him busy in his stroller or play at a table if we’re out eating. Yes like any other toy it can get to us parents but it works keeping him entertained for longer period of time then other toys. I like the fact that it folds just like a laptop you can carry it in your hand by the handle. Pretty cute too, with different instruments and animal sounds and colorful screen with numbers and pictures. Not too loud or obnoxious. Also, I must add that its also very durable my son drops it million times a day and still works like brand new. My son loves it, we use it every day.

Fun for little ones!

This is a fun toy for little ones. My little boy received this as a gift (his grandma got it at walmart for $4!). He got quite a bit of fun out of it when he was younger and even now sometimes pulls it out to play with (he’s currently 3). Be sure to shop around for this toy! I’ve seen it under various names for various prices. If you are looking for a laptop type toy for an older todler I suggest the Vtech Tote & Go Laptop Plus instead, but this is great for the little guys and gals!

My Daughter Loves this Drum

What could be better for a thirteen-month old than a brightly-colored drum you hit with a brightly-colored mallet? From my daughter’s point of view, just about nothing.

She really loves everything about this drum. The handles of both the drum itself and the mallet have a soft rubber tip on them, making this toy safer and fun to chew on while recuperating from heavy-duty jam sessions.

The mallet head resembles a cat toy, which is to say it’s very light, so any particularly exuberant swings that stray off course won’t hurt a hand or head.

Really, this drum is two toys in one: my daughter uses the mallet sans drum to create rhythms on everything from the dishwasher to the (poor, beleaguered) cat. To see her running wildly with the mallet toward a mundane object (a wall, for example) to see what kind of noise she can get out of it is to know that this drum represents money well spent.

And the babysitter has fun with it as well.

The drum is recommended for ages 3 and up but that seems conservative to me. Depending on the strength of your child, you might opt for one of the smaller models.

Goodbye, pots and pans!

My 27-month old was outgrowing his small plastic Fisher Price drum and mommy and daddy were going insane listening to him march around banging pot lids. The Lollipop Drum was a great solution. It is very simple but it is one of his favorite toys. The sound is nice and not ear-shattering. Mom and dad like to play on it, too. We bought ours in a toy store and offered him a choice of the Lollipop Drum and a tin drum with two sticks and a neck strap. It was no contest. We’re getting another one for a cousin. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
