Cute but don’t let baby chew on the pieces Cute and educational puzzle my son enjoys playing with, but the edges of the pieces are peeling off already (after two months) because he has chewed on them a couple of times. Not durable in terms of aesthetics, but still solid and usable. My son isn’t into it too much yet, but he’s getting there. (14 months old).

Perfect for Little Fingers This is the first Melissa & Doug product I have purchased, but it will NOT be the last! Purchased for my 18 month old grandchild, and it is wonderful. The puzzle pieces are very thick – about twice as thick as the wooden board they sit in, so those chunky little fingers can grasp the pieces easily to lift them out, and put them back in place. When you remove the puzzle piece from its “slot”, there is a second, identical picture of the puzzle piece under it, making it easier for the little one to identify where each piece belongs.

Fun Toy for Toddlers Learning “Pretend” I bought the Melissa & Doug Large Shapes Jumbo Puzzle as my kids first puzzle, and was pleased enough with Melissa & Doug to purchase this as a next step. My kids are 18-months-old, and they love to pretend with each little vehicle – waving the plane in the air, or making a “woo-woo!” sound for the fire engine. The “wells” that each piece fits into are fairly shallow, so my beginner puzzle-doers find it a little frustrating when the pieces slip out easily – but this is more a reflection of their puzzling skills than of the quality of the toy. I would definitely purchase more puzzles like this from Melissa and Doug.

Excellent puzzle! A must We love Melissa and Doug products. I highly recommend them. The only failing is that our dogs like to put the puzzle pieces in their mouth, resulting in many of the pieces being destroyed.

Aside from that, the puzzles are both fun and educational. We like that Melissa and Doug products are simple and without bells, buzzers, or whistles.

Great for both shapes and colors My 18 month old daughter loves this puzzle. When I pull her out of the crib in the mornings, it is one of the first things she goes for. The puzzle shape/size is great for her chubby little fingers, big enough that I don’t have to worry about her choking on them, and quite durable. Along with teaching shapes, I can also teach her about colors and I love to watch her match up the puzzle piece to the correct shape. Great value and I think would also make a great gift!

Best investment ever Both my boys have loved this puzzle to pieces. I bought it when my older son was just over a year old and he spent hours learning each shape and color and fitting it into the puzzle. Everntually I packed it away… and brought it out when my younger son started to show an interest in shapes. He loves it, too! I have to search the house for the pieces because he loves to carry them around. This is the best money I have spent on any toy to date.

Big puzzle for little fingers My 11 month old daughter loves to take the pieces out and play with them…she hasn’t figured out how to put them back in yet, but she will. I tell her what the animals are and make the sounds so I’m sure she’ll be doing the same soon enough. Good toy!

Great toy for toddler I bought this toy for my son when he was less than a year old. Every day we play this toy at least one time. He learned all the animal names on the board and the sounds they make. Now that he is 18 months old, he is able to put the puzzle together himself. I would hand him each animal and say the name, he repeats after me and then he would put the puzzle together. He doesn’t have long attention span. So, he would only do one game. We do this every day. He loves it and I love it too. The knobs are big and easy for their little hands to handle. And it’s quite sturdy.

Fanastic When my daughter was a toddler I got we got her one that was over 35 years ago. I so happy to find one for my grand daughter who loves it.

This product is good for learning how to it things precisely. Maybe I got it too late for my son. He pretty much hit all the pegs through a couple times and now he’s lost interest. He was 20 months when I got it so I think he was past it. He now likes using the hammer on the doors or daddy. He just pushes the pegs through with his hand. Mostly he ignores it. I think it would be better for a younger baby.

Ideal for a Busy Toddler My daughters each had a similar toy when they were babies, and when my granddaughter was a year old, we got one for her, too. Now her one-year old brother has his own, and it is one of his favorite toys. He loves to bang on the pegs (practicing his hand-eye coordination), it is durable and sturdy, the pieces are too big to swallow, it makes a banging sound which is satisfying to him without driving the rest of the family up the wall, and it helps him learn patience and persistence. I love the Melissa and Doug items for children!

I bought this toy as a gift for my grandson, but haven’t given it to him yet I bought this toy for my grandson’s 2nd birthday next month, at the request of his mother , so I don’t know how he’ll like it, but I know that Melissa and Doug toys are highly rated for their durability and ease of use for little ones. I myself love how brightly the toys are colored, and the fact that they are made for little hands.

Melissa and Doug Toys I love these puzzles for my grandson. They are so easy for his little fingers to grab, they are colorful and have a nice texture. They are educational and age appropriate. I would highly recommend these puzzles.

Cute, but a little disappointed I was looking for this puzzle in particular for my little girl since it is the “girliest” one M&D have in the chunky puzzles. It is very cute and functional, but the sides and backs of the pieces are not painted like the other chunky puzzles I have. The particleboard is left raw and of course, goes straight into our 12-month olds mouth, so it is beginning to puff up in some spots. I expected better from Melissa and Doug as I have many of their other toys and love them. Otherwise, it’s a good puzzle, just like the other chunky puzzles my older son loved so much.

Fun, durable, and colorful! My daughter is 16 months old and she loves this puzzle. The pieces are thick and durable so it can withstand a little chewing on. The colors are bright and easy to tell the different animals apart. The pieces stay in their place pretty well so when my daughter is putting other pieces in they don’t slide around. It is also very helpful that the pictures are also underneath each puzzle piece. She will put the puzzle together and then take it apart only to do it all over again. Its a fun, educational, safe, and overall a great puzzle!

Great Puzzle This puzzle is very cute. I would have to disagree with the warning about choking hazard though, these puzzle pieces are very large and would not be able to be swallowed. I also would recommend this product for children under 3. Our son has had it for about 8 months now and he loves it. The puzzle pieces are so wide that each piece can stand on end, so he plays with them in the windowsill. The paint has chipped off here and there but he is very rough with them, and I sometimes wonder if the dog got to them!

I’ve purchased block puzzles before only to find that the pictures are just glued on squares that soon show wear and peel off. This puzzle is so sturdy and well made. First off, the wood is a hard wood that takes a lot of hard play. Secondly, the pictures are not only cute, but their printed right on the wood and then coated with a hard finish. Pretty indestructible in my opinion. I really love this puzzle and have had fun playing with it with my grand children. It was a bit on the pricey side but after receiving it and knowing it will probably last forever, it was worth it. I highly recommend this puzzle.
