Cute but don’t let baby chew on the pieces Cute and educational puzzle my son enjoys playing with, but the edges of the pieces are peeling off already (after two months) because he has chewed on them a couple of times. Not durable in terms of aesthetics, but still solid and usable. My son isn’t into it too much yet, but he’s getting there. (14 months old).
Perfect for Little Fingers This is the first Melissa & Doug product I have purchased, but it will NOT be the last! Purchased for my 18 month old grandchild, and it is wonderful. The puzzle pieces are very thick – about twice as thick as the wooden board they sit in, so those chunky little fingers can grasp the pieces easily to lift them out, and put them back in place. When you remove the puzzle piece from its “slot”, there is a second, identical picture of the puzzle piece under it, making it easier for the little one to identify where each piece belongs.
Fun Toy for Toddlers Learning “Pretend” I bought the Melissa & Doug Large Shapes Jumbo Puzzle as my kids first puzzle, and was pleased enough with Melissa & Doug to purchase this as a next step. My kids are 18-months-old, and they love to pretend with each little vehicle – waving the plane in the air, or making a “woo-woo!” sound for the fire engine. The “wells” that each piece fits into are fairly shallow, so my beginner puzzle-doers find it a little frustrating when the pieces slip out easily – but this is more a reflection of their puzzling skills than of the quality of the toy. I would definitely purchase more puzzles like this from Melissa and Doug.
